Maison et Objet, better known as MOM, made its debut in 2016 and now gives businesses and consumers a year-round platform for communication and collection introductions. The assemblage of exciting new discoveries that occurs each month continually increases the industry’s activities.
For 27 years, SAFI, a division of Ateliers d’Art de France and RX France, has interacted with and brought together the design, home décor, and lifestyle communities throughout the world through Maison et Objet. What distinguishes it from others?
It specializes in fostering alliances and company growth both at tradeshows and on its digital platform. Additionally, it has a wonderful talent for identifying and emphasizing trends that will change along with the home design sector. Maison et Objet aims to inspire people both online and offline by showcasing talent, encouraging connections, and offering inspiration.
The winner chosen by Maison et Objet was Raphael Navot, born in 1977 in Jerusalem, Israel. After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven with a Bachelor’s degree in conceptual design in 2003, he relocated to Paris and began studying interior architecture and design. In his portfolio, he has a wide range of multidisciplinary projects that demonstrate French ingenuity and workmanship in everything from examples of hotel interiors to bespoke and commercial product design.
Silencio was the first project known to have been finished by Raphael Navot. Looking back, he can see that natural resources and local crafts were already being used. The Hotel National des Arts et Métiers, on the other hand, is his first significant conceptual achievement because it draws from so many aspects of his previous work.
It was very appropriate for him to call the visitor’s attention back to what I then referred to as The Natural Future because he enjoyed complete independence from a very bold and giving owner. He possessed resources that are unique and valuable for any kind of structure, including a sizable staff, a sizable budget, and a lot of time.
Raphael Navot collaborated with Oscar Ono to produce a highly sophisticated line of end-grain flooring (2016), David Lynch to build the Parisian nightclub Silencio (2011), Roche Bobois to produce 12 families of furniture, including couches, tables, rugs, and lamps, and (2018). On each job he does, he takes pride in using high-quality materials and a philosophical approach.
Raphael Navot likes the idea of working with businesses because he can access their narrative, but first he must understand and support it. He was interested in Roche Bobois since it is a French company that has operations worldwide and produces in Europe using premium natural resources. Working with them was a true delight because of their fantastic contacts with so many manufacturers and artisans. Being able to deal with manufacturing has very different possibilities than working with a gallery made working on a project of this size really interesting.
