Villon Restaurant

The nearly 100-year-old flatiron-styled landmark edifice of the San Francisco Proper Hotel houses the Villon restaurant, which is named after Jacques Villon, a French Cubist painter and artist from the turn of the 20th century. The main Villon dining room’s custom bar, which is fashioned of Negro Marquina marble, wood, and brass, commands the room with a tall spirits library. Wood, stone, metals, and glass are used to subtly highlight the room’s blue and black theme.

With an enticing invitation for total immersion within a cozy, carefree, and energetic residential ambiance, the ultrafeminine Goldie’s cocktail lounge and bar artistically fuses the past and contemporary. San Francisco Proper Hotel

The Kelly Wearstler design of the San Francisco Proper hotel combines the best of the old world and the most vibrant of the new. The hotel, which is housed in a 1926 landmark Beaux-Arts building, creates an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and sensual with its surprising fusion of custom and vintage furnishings, custom wallcoverings and lighting, hand-selected artworks, local artifacts, deep colors, rich textures, and natural materials that complement the patina of the original building.

Downtown Los Angeles Proper

A traditional California Renaissance Revival edifice is blended with a joyous mood in Kelly Wearstler‘s Downtown LA Proper. Mexican modernism combined with French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Moroccan design components, with vibrant worldwide influences. A blend of modern eclecticism and fantasy hand-crafted custom designs created by local Los Angeles artisans includes vintage hand-carved furniture and hand-made rugs, gorgeous vintage and custom tiles, rich woods, and the original architecture’s dramatic sculptural detailing.

Austin Proper

Austin Proper’s sophisticated, one-of-a-kind aesthetic draws on an Austin-specific tradition of artistry and workmanship, with a peaceful color scheme of earthy blues and warm rusts blended with clashing patterns. From a sculptural staircase installation of patchworked old rugs paying homage to art nouveau to arts & crafts designs, linens, and materials, eye-catching features are inspired by the historical significance of Austin’s stately homes. Every surface adds textural variety, and local artists and materials are prominently featured throughout.

Santa Monica Proper Hotel

The Santa Monica Proper hotel is an upscale yet relaxed beachfront resort designed by Kelly Wearstler. The architectural identity and built-in storytelling of the property were inspired by the environment, culture, and iconography of its namesake city. The room is dotted with artistic representations of traditional seaside motifs. The Grotto, a cove-like library and gallery space, conjures an artsy sitting room in a seaside home with its extensive collection of modern and old literature, found artwork, and contemporary pieces by local artists.
