The Milan Design Week will take place from the 6th to the 12th of June 2022 in Milan, Italy which includes shows and events in hundreds of venues around the city’s design districts. Of course, The Salone del Mobile furniture fair is the centerpiece of Milan Design Week but it’s not the only event happening. Here is a list of all of the activities that will be happening during that week.
The Milan Design Week, celebrates design to his peak, the whole city transforms during that week. Every year, for one week the city comes alive to celebrate design and foreshadowing the newest trends. Explore all of the districts of the city from Alcova, to Fuorisalonie, Isola, Zona Tortona and much more…
It is essential to recognize that Salone del Mobile is no longer just a fair, but rather a gathering of extraordinary creative minds from around the world. Within its much-anticipated agenda, Milan Design Week 2022 will examine key issues such as restarting, adapting, sustainability, ecological transition, and the future of life.
The Salone del Mobile, the world’s largest furniture market, will be held in the Fiera Milano exhibition center from June 7 to 12, 2022, as the primary event of Milan design week. Rug’Society will be there to showcase its new products such as the urban collection. Don’t miss any of it and come visit them at Pavilion 3, stand D18 to D20.
Another event to not miss is the Fuorisalone. To coincide with Salone del Mobile, a variety of fringe events, installations, and exhibitions are held throughout Milan, collectively known as the fuorisalone. These activities are mostly held in several design districts.
Milan is such a big city that it has been divided in several design districts, each with its own personality. Let’s start with the Brera Design District. It is one of the biggest and most well-established design districts in Milan. Throughout the week the district features several brand showrooms and exhibitions as well as temporary venues.
Another important district to not miss during the Milan design week is The Isola Design District. This part of the city serves as a platform to showcase the work of local designers. The district, located just north of the city center in the Isola neighborhood, offers exhibitions, installations, workshops, and discussions centered on the topic “Together as One.”
5VIE Design Week takes place in Milan’s Cinque Vie neighborhood, the city’s ancient Medieval quarter near the Duomo cathedral, and features a multitude of exhibitions, conferences, and activities themed “Prototyping Utopias.”
And don’t forget about Tortona Design Week! This district proposes a series of exhibitions and events with the themes of “Fluidity and Design”. These events will take place in the Zona Tortona neighborhood in the city’s southwest.

The Design Variations 2022 is an event curated by Mosca Partners which will showcase the work of worldwide design studios and artists such as Studio Irvine, Sebastian Herkner, Francesco Faccin, Nigel Coates, and Laura Bethan Wood. The event will be located at Circolo Filologico Milanese, Via Clerici 10, 20121, and Palazzo Visconti, Via Cino del Duca 8, 20122, Milano.
If you are interested in the connection between design and nature, you might want to assist to Prada Frames multidisciplinary conference. Formafantasma is a research-based design practice that focuses on the historical and social aspects of design. This event will take place from 6th to 8th June at the National Braidense Library, Via Brera 28, 20121, at the Milan design week.
Superbloom is an installation created by the multinational design firm RIOS that features three immersive rooms – Rain Room, Sprout Room, and Bloom Room – that simulate the biological processes that wildflowers go through. You can visit throughout the whole Milan design week at at Viale Umbria 49, 20135, Milano.
The Superdesign Show 2022 will focus on the work of women designers and sustainability. The show features exhibit projects from both international brands and individual designers who are striving to change the future with their innovative work under the subject of “Looking Ahead”. This year’s edition of the show will be directed by Gisella Borioli and Giulio Cappellini and held at Superstudio in via Tortona. Don’t miss it!
