„“There are hardly any architects in Europe at the moment who are dealing with the type of villa in a similarly consistent and similarly conscious manner as the Stuttgart architect Alexander Brenner. Within a single decade, Brenner, who has maintained his own office in his hometown of Stuttgart since 1990, has created a series of residential buildings reacting individually to the urban situation and the needs of the residents, which are exemplary in their design language as well as their sense of interior design likely. Brenner’s villas can be interpreted and experienced as three-dimensional works of art, as through-modelled living sculptures down to the smallest detail. Quite unique, however, is the creative logic with which Brenner lets the cubism of the external forms interact with the interior and transfers it to the fittings in the living rooms, the kitchens and the bathrooms. In an astounding naturalness, not only all the furniture in the houses but also all other everyday objects are fitted into the stereometric order of the finely rhythmic continuum of space. So, as has often been said in the history of modern architecture, there has ever been something like a Stuttgart style, and this style has achieved a new, functionally highly subtle fulfilment in Brenner’s apartment buildings.“ Dr Gottfried Knapp (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
